The Recovery of a Professional Bicyclist
John is an avid bicyclist and a 50 year old seasoned athlete. First week of January 2015,John sustained an ACL tear on his right knee while cutting a tree and pushing it out. After having an MRI it was confirmed that John has a full ACL tear and partial meniscal tear. He was scheduled for an arthroscopic repair by the orthopedic surgeon. John was concerned about his recovery and his ability to return to active sports. While researching his rehabilitation options one of John's friends Mike suggested Rehab Specialists. John was seen for a pre surgical appointment where he learned to use crutches, exercises to maintain his ROM and strength.
John was assigned to Jennifer Kenyon who is a Physical Therapist and athletic trainer. After his surgery John's rehab started the next day . Johns rehab program was carefully designed keeping his goal of returning to full sports in mind. Rehab Specialists follows an evidence based ACL rehab protocol which was approved by his Surgeon. John progressed well with his rehab and was ahead of most patients with similar injuries. As an athletic trainer and PT Jennifer had extensive experience in ACL and meniscal injuries as well as helping athletes return to pre injury levels. John's intense rehab program consisted of in-clinic exercise program, manual therapy, athletic drills and bike training. He was also trained outside the clinic. John was discharged early April and he won his first race in June and won a championship in Sept 2015. John continues his high intensity training and bikes 80-90 miles a week.

What our patients say about us
"I had John as a physical therapist before I ever had my surgery. I was so impressed with his knowledge that I followed him to the new facility to have my post-surgical therapy. John is the only PT I trust to treat my back problem. He knows exactly what he is doing in his profession and to the detail of each exercise he gives you to do. He has helped me improve so much physically and also with his encouragement helped overcome a lot of fear I had of certain movements with my back. I cannot say enough good things about his skills. I would recommend anyone O know to see him for physical therapy especially related to any back issues. I know the 4 short weeks of post-surgical PT has returned me close to 100% functioning and I have not been at that level in years.

"This BIG program has made a huge difference in my life! I am walking better, faster and stronger without needing to use my cane. The program with its one on one attention boosted my confidence in what I am able to do on a daily basis. I could not say enough superlatives about the program and the staff at Rehab Specialists.

"Rehab Specialists Extraordinaire" is my opinion of Dr. John Stephen and his knowledgeable staff. Dr. John and his specialty trained therapists successfully treated my vertigo and peripheral neuropathy after 15 visits. I haven't felt this good in many years.
Dr. John et al are compassionate, professional, and competent and thoroughly explained each treatment and made my treatments enjoyable.
I highly recommend him to any person with peripheral neuropathy and other neurological problems.

"I gained confidence in my daily activities. With Parkinson's I believed I could not think "big". Now I undertake what is normal and I am greatly encouraged. "I CAN."

"Over the past 6+ years, I've undergone a multitude of treatments to reduce hip, leg and foot pain caused by years of sitting 8+ hours per day at a computer along with arthritis and ill-advised orthotics. Positive results were minimal at best. And then I was advised by my physician to try working with John Stephen at Rehab Specialists. For the first time, someone took into account all of the pain issues I was experiencing and developed an exercise plan to address all the points of concern. It's not a cookie-cutter plan, but one that was tweaked at each session to address my body's response to the program. I came into my first session with high pain levels, muscle weakness and balance issues. I graduated from the program as a much physically stronger person, balance issues gone, and with a life long exercise program to minimize and deal with my pain issues. My quality of life has improved a million-fold!! Thanks a million to John and the wonderful and kind staff at Rehab Specialists!! Wish I had found you 6 years ago!!!!

"I must admit I was at first skeptical that physical therapy would help my neck pain which is caused by cervical dystonia and arthritis. I had tried many other things including a chiropractor and acupuncture to no avail. However I am happy to report after two months of P.T. that my neck pain is greatly improved. I was taking motrin nearly every day and now I rarely need one. John and the rest of the staff did a wonderful job. Now I just need to keep up with my home care plan. Thank you so much for your excellent and professional treatment.

"After a 15 minute consultation the friendly staff assured me they could help. They also told me if they didn't think they could they wouldn't waste my time. The whole staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. In about six weeks I was walking great and standing straighter than I had in years. The therapists e-mailed me exercises and plans and encouraged me through the process. The staff all treated me like family and helped me fix my spine. If you need physical therapy give Rehab Specialists 15 minutes. It could change your life. Sean M.
